Episode 1

We meet Daisuke Miyamoto and Megumi “Meg” Goto, a young couple from Seattle, at the end of the summer of 1941. Festivals and barbecues contrast a day that lives in infamy. Fear drives the nation to war, and the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese-Americans.

Episode 2

The Miyamotos and the Gotos are sent to Camp Minidoka, and must adjust to life in there. Eddy and goes to the mainland, and begins training.

Meg, Daisuke, and every adult in the camps are forced to “prove their loyalty” to the United States Government. A vaguely written questionnaire raises fears, and tears families apart. President Roosevelt forms the 442nd and Nisei soldiers begin training in Mississippi

Episode 4

Daisuke makes a shocking discovery at Camp Shelby. Eddy and the 100th go to Italy, and see their first combat. Meg looks for her calling within the camps. And Masa writes from Tule Lake.

Eddy’s unit is sent to Monte Cassino, one of the bloodiest theaters in the Italian campaign. As his illusions of war shatter, Meg must deal with a polio breakout in the camps. Daisuke and Toshiro go to New York, and Masa questions what it means to be Nisei.

Meg has a revelation about her place at Minidoka, and what kind of future she wants for herself. Daisuke and Masa finally connect, but find communicating during wartime brings unforeseen challenges. Eddy goes on a mission with Lt. Kim that will change the course of the war in Italy.
